Glad to be here, too, T! And nice to see your friends. I'll keep checking back if someone has a topic. Oh, reading, The Lovely Bones, by alice Sebold, if anyone's read it. Only into the first 100 pages, but it's so beautiful. It has me crying. Tara, you HAVE to read this!

Mon, August 30, 2004 - 10:31 AMNope, haven't read it yet.
I tend to read a lot of self-help, but need to delve into novels more. Maybe I should find a good, empowering novel--anyone have a suggestion? -

Mon, August 30, 2004 - 11:33 AMCliche i know... but "Mists of Avalon" rocks!
"The Red Tent" too...
All works by Anaiis Ninn- My favorite is "Delta of Venus" But beware the reader since you get swept up in a heap of sexually diverse living.
"Sastun"- a true story about an american woman who apprentices with the last true mayan shaman. Strong woman- incredible story.
I am sure there are many others but those are my faves.

Re: Sam's here...(good book)
Thu, March 3, 2005 - 7:44 AMhi--elise here-i've joined in on this lovely tribe. one of my favorite books of all times is "daughters of copper woman" by anne cameron. it is a wonderful book weaving in mythology of the nootka tribe of vancouver with a ficticious story of a young woman learning the history of the women of the tribe that she comes from. it is so beautiful and heartwrenching and empowering. love it.
